Today kicks off our events at American University for the semester!
Small Discussion Groups – Tonight at 6:30p outside of the Tavern in the Mary Graydon Center (MGC), we’ll be holding our first small discussion group. Tonight will be just a time to get to know each other and kick off the school year. Afterward we may go get some coffee or some food somewhere just for a chance to hang out. We probably won’t have a sign to indicate where we are, so you’ll just have to look for the the group of people (take a look at my picture on Facebook – http://www.facebook.com/jayson.whelpley and you’ll have an idea what I look like).
Chill Hangout Night(s) – Coming Soon (time, date and locations to be announced). Occasionally last semester we organized hang-out nights in people’s houses, apartments, in Adams-Morgan and on the quad where we would chill and talk with optional activities that included coffee, random Kung-Fu movies, smoking hookah but it was always accompanied by good (if kinda random) conversation.
Kickoff Cookout – Sunday, September 6th 6:00pm in Arlington. AU Cru is a part of a larger group of students across the DC area (aptly called DC Cru). On the Sunday of Labor Day we’re officially kicking off the DC Cru year with a traditional cookout at one of our houses. So, if you want to learn more about Cru, if you want a good grilled burger, hot dog or some chicken and if you like lawn games and camp fires this is where you’ll want to be! Please let us know if you want to come to this and if you’re going to bring anyone. We’ll need to organize rides and we want to make sure we have enough food!
Fall Retreat - October 9-11 in Northeast, MD. You think being a part of a city-wide movement is something? There’s more! We’ll be coming together with Cru groups from Baltimore, the University of Maryland and the Maryland eastern-shore to roadtrip, camp (in cabins), sing, hear a couple of talks from someone that will challenge you like no other, kayak, climb a climbing wall, play some ultimate, get a good Indian Summer sunburn and have a huge bonfire. More information is coming soon – just mark your calendars for this one!
RADIATE09 – Winter Conference in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Okay, imagine the fall semester is already over. Now imagine Christmas has just ended and you’re trying to figure out where to go for the most rip-roaring New Year’s Eve party. How about 1,000 students from around the Mid-Atlantic region? How about staying for 4 nights in a Marriott overlooking the super-awesome Inner Harbor in Baltimore? How about worship led by one of the best bands in the region? How about seeing all of your DC Cru friends and getting a vision for your life? Yeah, you should think about RADIATE09.
